Knitting Needle Size7 or 4.5 mm

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Materials:

  • Lily Sugar 'n Cream (70 g/2.5 oz;109 m/120 yds)
    • Contrast A Yellow (00010) - 1 ball
    • Contrast B White (00001) - 1 ball
    • Contrast C Hot Green (01712) - 1 ball
  • Size 4.5 mm (U.S. 7) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge
  • With 1 ball each of A, B and C you can make 2 dishcloths

 

Gauge: 20 sts and 26 rows = 4” [10 cm] in stocking st.

 

INSTRUCTIONS


Center
With A, cast on 5 sts.
1st row: (RS). Inc 1 st in first st. Knit to last st. Inc 1 st in last st. 7 sts.
2nd row: Inc 1 st in first st. Purl to last st. Inc 1 st in last st. 9 sts.
3rd row: Inc 1 st in first st. K1. MB. K3. MB. K1. Inc 1 st in last st. 11 sts.
4th and alt rows: Purl.
5th row: Inc 1 st in first st. (MB. K3) twice. MB. Inc 1 st in last st. 13 sts.
7th row: Inc 1 st in first st. (K3. MB) twice. K3. Inc 1 st in last st. 15 sts.
9th row: (K3. MB) 3 times. K3.
11th row: K1. (MB. K3) 3 times. MB. K1.
13th and 15th rows: As 9th and 11th rows.
17th row: ssk. K1. (MB. K3) twice. MB. K1. K2tog. 13 sts.
19th row: ssk. K2. MB. K3. MB. K2. K2tog. 11 sts.
20th row: P2tog. Purl to last 2 sts. P2tog. 9 sts.
21st row: ssk. K2. MB. K2. K2tog. 7 sts.
22nd row: As 20th row. 5 sts. Cast off.

Petals
With B, cast on 15 sts.
**1st row: (WS). Knit.
2nd row: Sl1. K13. Inc 1 st in last st.
3rd row: K15. Turn. Leave rem st unworked.
4th to 9th rows: As 2nd and 3rd rows 3 times more.
10th row: Sl1. K14.
11th row: K2tog. K14. Turn. Leave rem st unworked.
12th row: Sl1. K14.
13th to 18th rows: As 11th and 12th rows 3 times more.
19th row: K2tog. K13.
20th row: K12. K2tog.
21st row: Cast off 12 sts. 1 st rem.***
22nd row: K1.
Cast on 14 sts. 15 sts in total.**
Rep from ** to ** 6 times more, then from ** to *** once. Fasten off rem st.

Leaves
With C, cast on 17 sts.
**1st row: (WS). Knit.
2nd row: K16. Inc 1 st in last st.
3rd row: K17. Turn. Leave rem st unworked.
4th row: Sl1. K16.
5th row: K2tog. K16.
6th row: K15. K2tog.
7th row: Cast off 15 sts. 1 st rem.***
8th and 9th rows: K1.
Cast on 16 sts. 17 sts in total.**
Rep from ** to ** 6 times more, then from ** to *** once. Fasten off rem st.
(8 Leaves in total).

Twist Petals and Leaves around each other. Sew side seams. Sew Petals and Leaves around Center.

As the commenters noted below, there are no instructions above for MB (make bobble). I looked for the original pattern on sugarncream.com but did not find it. There is another pattern on allfreeknitting called Sunflower Dishcloth Pattern. That one also has MB but explains how to do it, so I would use that pattern instead.

I understand that MB is make bobble but where are the instructions on how to make the bobble?
