FINISHING
Pin Panels to measurements. Cover with a damp cloth, leaving cloth to dry. Sew Panels tog as follows: (Chain of Hearts Panel. Lovers’ Knots Panel) twice. Chain of Hearts Panel.
Top and Bottom edging: With RS facing and circular needle, pick up and knit 173 sts evenly across top edge of Afghan. Do not join.
Working back and forth across needle in rows, proceed as follows:
1st row: (WS). *K1. P1. Rep from * to last st. K1.
Rep last row for seed st pat 6 times more. Cast off in pat.
Rep across bottom edge of Afghan.
Side edging: With RS facing and circular needle, pick up and knit 229 sts evenly along side edge of Afghan. Do not join. Working back and forth across needle in rows, work 7 rows in seed st pat as given for Top and Bottom edging. Cast off in pat.
Rep along opposite side of Afghan.

Several of our patterns were recently transferred to a new template and unfortunately, the transfer caused many of the images to disappear. We are working hard to update all images. Well, you can't go wrong making a classic cable knit afghan pattern like this. It looks so lovely in the natural color, but I'm sure it would look nice in almost any solid color, especially a deep rich tone like maroon, royal blue, or chocolate brown. What a special gift this would be for someone.

Currently making the Traditional Cable Knit Afghan and would like to point out an error in the pattern. In the Lovers Knots panel the 19th row has the word "twice" after P2. The P2 should not be repeated as the stitch count and the symmetry of the pattern is then incorrect. The incorrect word is below for clarity. 19th row P3. K3. (P1. K1) twice. P1. K3. P2. T4B. P2. C4B. P4. C4F. P2. T4F. P2 twice. K3. (P1. K1) twice. P1. K3. P3. The pattern otherwise is wonderful to knit.

i was trying to do the math on the pattern before I make it, and it doesn't seem like the two separate patterns will end up the same length. I have it off by 4 rows when completed. Did I do something wrong? I haven't done anything this intricate before, so I'm not really sure of they were suppose to be the same size. Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing. I would like to make it all in one piece (I know -- SUPER heavy to work with but I hate to sew panels together.) Could I just add two extra rows of seed stitch (or stockinette?) at the beginning and end of the Lover's Knot panels so that everything ends on row 312?

I would like to make the cedar falls throw but.....the brown one(draped across a beige chair) on the first page has that "bumpy: look that I love....but when I got the pattern page, I see an ivory cabled throw that doesn't look like the brown one. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks so much.

jsaliba, have you discovered "paste special"? It changed my life. Instead of just selecting copy paste, select "paste special" and choose the paste option "keep source formatting". This is an option that exists in Windows.

I have this afghan draped over my bed in winter. Provides just the warmth I need without having to turn the heat on. (in Florida) Made several for friends that were excited about its beauty. Not for the beginner. Although it is somewhat easy.
