I love the look but was calculating what it would cost to make I came up with $172.00, just for the wool. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where to get reasonably priced wool? ty

This pattern was designed with a particular brand of wool yarn that comes in small (50 g) skeins. If you wanted to stay with wool, there are many other brands that have lower costs, even for making a large afghan. You could also go to acrylic yarn, which could be an even lower overall cost.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to give a specific source but I purhase a lot of yarn from KnitPicks. It comes in skeins with decent yardage and is very reasonably priced. In fact, the wool may be on sale right now if you want wool. I'm always afraid to use 100% wool because I think someone will wash it and felt it accidentally. KnitPIcks has superwash wool though!

This afghan is simply gorgeous and the designer provides instructions for two different styles. The first is knit blocks which are assembled later and the second is knit in one piece. I think the first one will be easier to knit for less experienced knitters. Either way the finished product is unique.

I'm not sure I would consider this pattern "Easy". I have made this afghan and being an advanced begginer it was sort of a challenge with the short row knitting and wrap and turns. Also as the afghan grew, the constant turning was frustrating. But the battle is worth it once you're finished, the afghan truly is beautiful!!
