I love this idea for when you're running to the store to grab just a few items. When empty, I imagine it's small enough to easily store in the car so that it's always on hand.

I was looking for a pattern like this and here it is. They are eliminating plastic bags at many of the markets here so I need bags like this that can be stuffed in my purse and used. This will work up quickly as well. I like the suggestion about using it as a laundry bag as well because that is a weekly chore. This bag will have several uses. Thank you for the pattern.

This is a great market bag pattern to help reduce the use of plastic bags. You can make it out of cotton, linen, or hemp yarn so it's tough and not too stretchy, then you can throw the bag in the wash when you need to. Maybe this pattern will inspire more people to use reusable bags!

Growing up in Belgium string bags were a common sight as women did their marketing, easily tucked into a handbag or pocket when empty, and easily stretching to accommodate the most amazing amount of bundles and packages of all sizes and shapes. Plastic bags are environmentally disastrous, the available reusable bags are limited in what they can carry.. we should all take a bit of time and knit a couple of these for shopping times. Ideal pattern
