How to Knit the Butterfly Lace Stitch
This beginner lace stitch is so simple but makes a great, lacy addition to almost any pattern!
The butterfly lace stitch is a great pattern for knitters who are new to lace knitting. It's visually stunning, and it's only an 8-stitch repeat, which gives you sets of four eyelets that somewhat resemble butterflies. It also only requires a few basic increases and decreses -- knit two together and yarn over.
This pattern would be great for garments like knitted scarves, shawls, and even hats! It will add a little bit of airiness to your work without creating too much openwork, and it's versatile, so you can easily plop a repeat or two into any field of stockinette.

On the butterfly lace stitch tutorial, it would have been easier to show what the repeat is and show that the pattern changes only in the internal 8 stitches. It took me a while to see that 2,4,6 and 8 were identical except for the first and last stitches same with 1,3,5,7. This became clear when I read the charted pattern, but the tutor didn't make this clear at first.
